week 41 Nao Sol

January 27, 2014

Oi!

Well like always this week was pretty good!

We had a great district meeting on Wednesday all about the atonement. The awesome thing was later that day we ended up teaching about the atonement to one of our investigators! I love when we can apply things we learn in meetings so quickly. At district meeting we all made transfer predictions and almost everyone predicted that I would be leaving Yakima....but ha ha they were all wrong! Yep...on Saturday we got a call from President Ware asking if I would be willing to train another missionary! And then he told us that I would be staying in Yakima and Sister Rasmussen would be going to Othello. That was definitely surprising. I thought I was going to leave. But I am excited to stay, and I am actually excited to train again! I know Heavenly Father will help me be the trainer that my new companion needs.

I don't remember if I mentioned this before but my district leader and his companion stole our phone last week (?) when we were in interviews with President Ware. They wrote on the chalk board "Yak 1st rules ;)" and took a picture of it and set that as the screen on our phone. We wanted to get back at them in some way but they almost always have their phone with them...except for on Monday...we were about to leave the stake center to go eat dinner and we saw their phone sitting on a table. So we quickly wrote on a piece of paper, "5th ward sisters are awesome!" and set that as their screen. Later that night we got a text, "silly 5th ward...trix are for 1st ward ;) nice ha." So that was fun, I am glad that we get along with the elders so well. They have definitely helped us a lot in the last transfer with keeping us postive when the work was slow.

Well I think thats about it. The only other thing I can think of is that it has been cloudy for over a week. So we havent seen in the sun in a really long time. This cloudy, cold weather makes me so tired so I hope the sol comes out again soon :) Have a great week everyone, and keep on smiling!

Week 40

January 19, 2014
Ola Familia!

This was a great week! We taught so many lessons, more than I have ever taught before in
one week on my mission. I love teaching about the gospel.

We had specialized training this week and I learned so much. The main topic
was asking inspired questions. We were told to "go to Heaven" for our inspired
questions. Asking inspired questions is hard but it does make a huge difference
in our teaching I've noticed. Also our investigator Angie is back on date for being
baptized on February 14th! She has to stop smoking but we think she will make it :)

We also had interviews with President Ware. He knew how frustrated I have been
with my visa and he told me- "give your visa to the Lord." So that's one thing I did
this week. Its amazing how much happier I have felt. I feel like a burden has been
lifted off my back. I'm not worried about my visa anymore. It will come when its
suppose to come and I shouldn't worry about something I have no control over.
I know that when we really do turn to Christ that He is able to help us in ways that
no one else can.He is my Savior.

We had a guy come up to us this week and start talking to us as we were sitting
n our car waiting for the road to clear so we could turn. He said a lot of weird things,
including...show me your fingers. What? We showed him our fingers and he asked
why two beautiful girls like us aren't married. We tried to explain that we are only 20.
Then he asked us if we were like nuns. Nope, we are not nuns ha ha..
.we might be a little bit like nuns but only for these 18 months. He was a really
weird guy and he invited us to stop by sometime. I don't think we will be doing that
 any time soon ha ha.

Well I hope you have a great week everyone! Keep on smiling :)

Week 39 9th Month

January 13, 2014
sententa e cinco

Oi!

This week had a lot of ups and downs. Up...its been warmer! Actually the weather has been so weird. It snowed on Tuesday, was really icy on Wednesdayon Friday it got really windy and its stayed windy since. Ha ha random weather report, just thought I'd let you know :)

So I hit my 9 month mark this week! Its crazy to think that I'm half way done with my mission, its got fast. I have learned so much though, I feel like I am closer to my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ than I have ever been before. I know they have helped me though everything that has been hard.

Our zone leaders gave our zone a crazy challenge this week. They asked us to fast on Friday and then on Saturday to go and talk to 100 people! So we bascially tracted all day on Saturday. We ended up talking to 75 people, which is still an amazing amount of people to talk to in one day. We were definitely blessed in our efforts because there were a lot of people home that day.

We were able to go to the temple this week which was great. I love the peace that comes from going to the temple. I think there was a reason we went this week too because I got news that I had to fill out another background check and also call the missionary travel department and FBI. I didnt take that news very well, but I think I would have been even more upset if we hadnt just gone to the temple. The temple is amazing and I know we are blessed when we go.

Well I hope you all have a great week! Keep on smiling :)

WEEK 38 2014

January 6, 2014

2014
Ola!

A lot happened this week! We had the opportunity to do service twice this week which was awesome! I love doing service. Our district leader and his companion came with us for one of them because we were doing service for a single man and the elders already knew him so that was fun. That set of elders is always willing and ready to help us which is really nice and we really appreciate the help.

We saw a good thing happen from tracting this week. A few weeks ago we had dropped off an ensign with our investigator Ted and were walking back to our car and we started talking to a woman who was outside. It turns out she was sick and we ended up praying for her. Well Tuesday was crazy because we had to be in by 6 for New Years Eve. We didn't have the car that day and were walking to the church to change back into missionary clothes because we had been doing service and we got a call from that lady! She was crying and said she needed someone to talk to so we hurried and changed then ran to her house. She was having a really hard day because of some family things that had been going on for a while, so we listened and shared a scripture and said we would come by and see her again soon. We went back yesterday and it turns out that she wants to learn more about the church! Tracting might seem pointless sometimes but it still does work :)

I cant believe its already 2014...crazy! Time is going so fast. I also will hit my 9 month mark this Friday! I really want to make the most out of these next 9 months.

I found a quote a week or two ago that I really like by President Monson- "I promise you that you will one day stand aside and look at your difficult times, and you will realize that He was always there beside you." I know this is true. It hasnt been easy being a visa waiter, and being a missionary is not always easy. But I know He is always there. He Knows exactly what we go through every day and I'm grateful that someone does. I hope that I can always remember this.

Well I hope you have a great week! Keep on smiling :)
