A reuniao (meeting)

Ola!

So this week we had a really cool experience! We had a missionary meeting with all the missionaries in the WKM. And the exciting part? Elder M. Russell Ballard, Elder Richard J. Maynes (of the 70) and Elder Resume (area 70) spoke to us! It was amazing! They talked a lot about working with the members, which has been a theme my entire mission. One thing that Elder Ballard said was- "when you shake hands with someone, look them in the eye, smile, people can feel that you have something special." I thought that was interesting. So that is what I am working on now. I learned so much from this meeting, I wish I had more time to tell you about it!

I have also been a little bit humbled this week. We were complaining about not having the car on Sunday because it was cold and raining. Then a thought came to my mind- at least you have the car a few days during the week. Our district leader and his companion don't have a car ever. Then we had some of our investigators come to church and they were sitting in different parts of the chapel and it was a little stressful. But then I had another thought- your investigators are coming to church, that is what you wanted. Its little things like that that really make me realize how blessed I really am. I am so grateful that I am a missionary!

Well I hope you all have a great week! Keep on smiling, I love you!

Week 27

A conferencia de zona

Ola!

So this week went so fast...probably since P-day was on Wednesday last week.

We had zone conference this week. It was so good and I learned a lot.
The main focus was working with the members and how we can get them
excited to share the gospel. One thing our mission president asked us
to do was what is called a 40 day fast. So we get rid of things in our
life that are distracting us from been the best missionaries we can
be. President Ware told us that he had been a little distracted lately
and it really affected how he was working. One thing he said was- "you
cannot have one foot in the Lord's work and one foot in distraction."
I think that is so true. We are a lot more effective when we are fully
focused on serving the Lord and the people we are around. The cool
thing to is the 40 day fast ends around Thanksgiving.

At zone conference we also divided into groups for different classes.
One of them was a game of jepordy with general conference quotes and
scriptures. I was the only sister on my team and sister Ware was
sitting in the room to observe. Well Sister Ware must like me a little
bit because although she didnt directly tell me any answers she did
look at my conference notes and would nod her head when I was on the
right page so I could find the person who said the quote. The Ware's
are awesome, I'm glad I got to see them.

Our investigator Angie came to church again on Sunday and she brought
her brother! They both liked the meeting and are planning on coming
next week.

Well I hope everyone has a great week! Keep on smiling, I love you all!

Week 26

October 16, 2013

I Love to see the temple!

Oi! Tudo Bem?!

Well this week went pretty well, we had some good things happen.

On Sunday we had 2 investigators come to church for the first time
ever! So it was a lady named Angie and then a man named Ted and his 3
grandkids. They both enjoyed it, which was awesome! It was probably
the most stressful Sunday on my mission so far. Both Sister Love and I
were praying so hard that our investigators would like church, that
they would feel the spirit and that the speakers would give good
talks. Heavenly Father definitely answers prayers because it went
really well and they all loved church!

I also hit my 6 month mark! So crazy...its gone so fast!

We got to go to the temple today and that was so great. And we have
zone conference tomorrow, so this week is full of spiritual goodness!
Going to the temple makes P-days a little bit crazy but its definitely
worth it and something I needed.

Well I hope you all have a great week! Keep on smiling :)

P.S.- pictures. Our zone at the temple. Sister Love and I with Sister
Black (the members we live with) she drove all of the sisters in our
zone to the temple.

I Love General Conference

Ola!

How's everyone doing? This week was alright. I'm getting to know
Yakima a little bit better, which is good.

Wasnt general conference so good?! I loved it! We were challenged by
our mission president to bring questions to conference and its kind of
cool because some of my questions got answered. We had been wondering
what to do in our area and the answer...work with the members more. So
we are going to try to do that. One thing I loved was Elder Holland
said- "we are infinitely more than our limitations." I think I need to
focus on that more often.

I cant believe it has been a year since the announcement was made
about the changing the age at which missionaries can serve. I am so
grateful that I decided to serve a mission almost exactly a year ago.
I cant imagine being anywhere else than on a mission right now. Being
a missionary is the best!

So there is a family here- the Ricks, who have fed us twice in the 2
weeks I've been here. They are also one of the only families that
knows I'm a visa waiter. So we ate with them on Tuesday and right
before we left Sister Ricks says they have a gift for both of us. They
gave Sister Love a box of lemonade (her favorite drink) and they gave
my a can of hot chocolate mix...so I don't freeze ha ha. They are a
great family :)

Well I cant really think of anything else. Oh! Before I forget...next
week we get to go to the temple! So I wont be emailing until
Wednesday. Have a great week and keep on smiling :)
